Living off the grid?
If you're serious about living off the grid you have probably looked into buying solar panels or aerogenerators. The trouble with this that it is just too pricey to purchase decent solar arrays or a powerful enough windmill without bankrupting your family.
We've been there. At the time when we originaly began living off grid we hardly made adequate income to build our own house.
How were we going to power our home?
We were talking to our good friend Mike Shepherd and he told us that it's pretty simple to build a wind generators. He told us that there are
quite a lot of designs accessible online to download.
Big mistake!
We didn't understand any of the designs that we found online. It always seemed that these writers just wanted to establish that they were the brightest people in the world. To make a long story short we wasted more than $100 on designs then we resolved to do some research then build one of
our own. We spent over 6 months researching before perfected our wind turbine, but during peak winds it will yield more than 1800 watts of power.
We then chose to arrange the hard learned facts into simple plans so that even the non-technically inclined could build their own wind turbine.
The Home made wind turbine Challenge
* the designs needs to be easy to follow and understand
* it has to generate over 1000 watts of electicity
* must cost less than $100 to build
* original blueprint for the homemade wind turbine
* uses exclusively readily accessible material
* must be easy to build and set up
* Tough enough to hold up to tough winds
* and it has to look great
We have presented these projects to Oscar and he said he wish that we'd shown him these plans before! He underwent the same problems that we had. he couldn't decipher most
of the plans that he found either.
Our newly built wind generators now sits on top of the rebuilt TV tower spinning away producing power for our home. Send us the photos of your completed

We had a lot of fun learning how to build a aerogenerator and we want to share that fun with you. We could have dropped 1000s on a commercial wind
generator but why?
And we give this promise to you: these designs do conform to the above-mentioned demands, and it will require some work on your part.
